And thanks to everyone who came to my stage. I had such a brilliant time. Here's some photos from Adam Chard. They are Still Corners, My First Tooth, La La Vasquez, Cut Ribbons, Cate Le Bon and Calories. Awesome.

FUCK. YEAH.

Oh FUCK YEAH! We've only gone and booked some amazing shows. Here's an update of what's coming up...

TUESDAY SEPT. 21ST

Big Scary Monsters' finest make a stop in Cardiff...

SHOES AND SOCKS OFF
After singing in a tricky rock band called Meet Me In St. Louis, December 2008 saw the release of 'From The Muddy Banks Of Melitzer' Toby Socks Off's first solo album. It was recorded in a bedroom with two mics in one day and released on BSM. Now several records in Toby is a delight to watch, listen, and fall in love with.

HOLD YOUR HORSE IS
Post-hardcore alt indie killer 3 piece coincidentally from my home town. Their tracks have the kind of bass and kick combination that makes headphones crackle. Forthcoming EP on BSM and free music here http://www.hyhi.co.uk/

Plus the brilliant SAMOANS as opening support.

Tickets £3 on the door

TUESDAY SEPT. 28TH

Killer co-headline tour...

COMANECHI
After they tore our ears to shreds in January we're delighted to welcome Simon and Akiko (Pre/The Big Pink) back. Their debut album Crime of Love received both critical acclaim and all round applause, while their live shows have been known to end in blood, sweat and screaming.

DIVORCE
Glasgow's finest DIY garage punks. Divorce will rip your heart out, chew it up, and spit it back out in a gnarled mess of bass driven riffs, jagged drums, and throaty screeching. They've got a forthcoming split 7" with Comanechi on the ever brilliant Merok (Klaxons, Titus Andronicus, Blondes).

DRAINS
New Cardiff three piece who played their first gig in Jen's kitchen last weekend and instantly got offered this slot.

WE'VE ONLY GONE AND FUCKING BOOKED HEALTH!

SWN and flux=rad presents

HEALTH
...
Wednesday 13th October
...Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff
£8 adv from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/92944
and http://www.clwb.net/

Formed in 2005, HEALTH self-recorded their debut album over the course of 9 months at Los Angeles D.I.Y. venue The Smell, birthing an urgent and extraordinary album which seethed with ghostly, epic pop and spurts of chaotic noise. Their shows grew wilder, kids danced & moshed, blogs freaked out, critics raved, and everyone wondered how in God's name HEALTH was going to follow it up. While the anticipation continued to build, HEALTH released their critically-acclaimed remix record HEALTH//DISCO, toured with the likes of Crystal Castles and Nine Inch Nails, and played over 420 shows!

In April of 2009, HEALTH emerged with their second album GET COLOR on CIT YSLANG records. The Single "DIE SLOW" received immediate accolades from Pitchfork & NME, with the effects rippling across their DIE SLOW THROUGH EUROPE tour, resulting in a near-riot in Eastern Europe. The song's infectious fusion of noise and dance was the most fully-formed and undeniably rad piece of music from HEALTH yet. And it only served to rile up their fans more.

In 2010 HEALTH returned to the remix realm with DISCO2. Curated and produced by HEALTH, DISCO2 features the epic noise jams of GET COLOR remixed by electronic luminaries Tobacco, Crystal Castles, Salem, Javelin, and Gold Panda (among others). DISCO2 morphed 2009's GET COLOR into an electronic masterpiece. Leading off with the killer new HEALTH single "USA BOYS", mixed by legendary producer Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode).

On stage it is where it all comes together for HEALTH. They’ve just finished playing a wide variety of Festivals including Primavera Sound, Loolapalooza, Eurockeennes, Roskilde as well as Reading and Leeds.

Also, flux=rad will have a stage at SWN festival on SATURDAY OCT. 23RD. More details to follow...

AND Abe Vigoda will play Buffalo Bar on THURSDAY NOVEMBER 18TH

Tickets are £6 adv from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/91971

AWESOME.

Keeping the dream alive.

In Cardiff there are not many venues.

There are even less with a real PA.

There are even fewer who put on half decent bands regularly.

Every Barfly outside of London bar York's Fibbers Club has closed down. As much as Cardiff Barfly can suck at times, it's pretty important to our music scene it stays. That's what I think anyway.

Despite the fact that the stench of toilets are sometimes tear inducing, it gets so hot in summer that the sweat drips from the ceiling, and there's usually a pillar in the way of the stage, I really love going to Barfly. I've seen some great shows there and had some brilliant nights out and I think it'd be really, really sad to see it go.

I know it's part of a larger chain etc... Whatever. It might end up making no difference, but in the future you can expect to see a few more flux=rad's in it's stuffy cave.

I promoted an aftershow there last Thursday after the FFAF gig and we sold the place out. Get your tickets in advance for this one. Should be an ace night...

On Friday July 30th SWN take over The Big Weekend stage with Racehorses, Los Campesinos! and The Blackout. And afterward they take over Barfly, with a little help from flux=rad. THE BLACKOUT DJ Set. LOS CAMPESINOS! DJ Set. flux=rad DJs ...
Here's the dirt...

Tomorrow Night!

SAVOIR ADORE
Brooklyn duo Paul and Deidre make glorious, crisp, heart winning pop. After releasing their limited edition debut UK single 'Bodies' earlier this year (receiving support from Radio 1 and NME Radio) Savoir Adore will release their debut album 'In the Wooded Forest' thr...ough Cantora Records (the New York label who helped launch MGMT, Violens and Bear Hands) in August.

I saw them at SXSW and had to bring them back to Cardiff :)

CUT RIBBONS
From West Wales with love.

CAT MOUSE CAT
Loveable Cardiff scamps Cat Mouse Cat bring the opening smiles.

Tickets £3 on the door.

NEW SHOWS!

You know what... I've had so much fun putting on bands over the last few months I was sad to quit.

So instead we just confirmed some more gigs. And you thought we were dead and buried. Surprise!

Only difference is now when you see flux=rad that's just me, Jen. When you see SWN and flux=rad, that's me and John.

Everything else is the same. Great bands put on as cheaply as possible with the same friendly atmosphere at shows and the occasional free compilation/gig/house party.

All we can do to equate the awesome over to you, we will. That might not make sense, but it sounds good, which is pretty much the motto here anyway.

Check out the blog for news and stuff http://fluxingrad.blogspot.com and hopefully see you soon.

We've got some great shows coming up for you so please get involved, invite your friends and above all, enjoy yourself.

Jen

New Blog.

Hello.

This is the new blog for flux=rad. New venues, great new bookings, and a fresh start.

I've decided to keep putting on some shows without John. In the past we've put on great bands like Tubelord, Beach House, Comanechi, Surfer Blood and La La Vasquez together.

I also put out free compilation CDs that you can pick up from the shows. You can grab one of the last few copies of flux=rad volume 2 at one of these shows.

More news soon, but for now, watch this...
